Another poem inspired by Liz Strauss’ 25 Words that Connect Us project

We look for:
Connections,
Touchings,
Feelings.

Seeking to be a part,
To learn,
To see,
To hear.

Finding another
To touch,
To hug,
To love.

A Stranger Sunday, Oct 12 2008

To give credit where it’s due - this was inspired by Liz Strauss’ 25 Words That Connect Us project.

Lives connect
In ways unrealized

A word,
A smile or
A helping hand

One life a stranger touches,
That touch extends
More lives to mend.

Letters Friday, Oct 10 2008

Letters, characters
Spaces and sounds

Patterns, weavings
stitching, meanings

Words grouped
in sentances, message

Talking, hearing
listening, learning.

Colors Friday, Oct 10 2008

Blue
Midnight, Electric

Green
Emerald, Spring

Yellow
Sunshine, Caution

Red
Brick, Blood

Colors
Highs and Lows
Bright and Dark

The Weaving Wednesday, Oct 8 2008

Warp and weft
Thread and thought
Weaving into life

One loose end
One tug, one pull
The pattern unravels

Rhythm paused
Weaver studies
A new pattern to see

Loom resumes
Loose thread reweave
Pattern altered to new design

Windows Tuesday, Oct 7 2008

My window, by day
by sunlight
lets me see
a tree, a house, a street.

My window, by night
by moonlight
becomes
a portal, a mirror, a dream

Silver radiance
transforms
clear glass to
crystal mirror shining

Ghostly shapes
wisp and flow
dreams and visions
of things ethereal

Possibilities
Opportunities
mundane transforming
unfettered and free.

Cycles Monday, Oct 6 2008

Summer’s heat fading,
Autumn’s leaves turning,
Warning of Winter’s coming,
Half a year from Spring’s warming.

Circle of Seasons,
Cycle of years,
Events reoccurring,
Lessons renewed.

History teaches
To those who hear
Lessons learned
Without cost to self.

The Present day
Tells of past lessons learned
Dreams of seasons to come
Listens for whispers in the wind.

Promises in the Future wait,
Life to dreams to give.
Consequences come home to live
And mysteries reveal.

Fallow Fields Friday, Sep 26 2008

Fallow fields harbor
Fallow spirits follow

Winter snow blankets
Hearts and souls warming

Resting, restorative
Cocooned within

Energies turn
To healing, growing

Rediscovering, renewing
For new season’s efforts

The View from Here Thursday, Sep 25 2008

Bright colors the day
Blue, yellows, white

Faded hues my soul
Grays, blues and black

Outside, inside
Contradictions abound

One hand open
One hand closed

Scales are tipping
Balances sliding

Can grays give way
to rainbow colors?

A hill to climb
A summit seeking

When hilltop breached
clear sight will win.

Shadows Wednesday, Sep 24 2008

Sharp edged shadows fall
Cast by bright sun shining
On fallow ground and growing.

Landscapes new to see
In everyday scenes showing
In something new discovering.

Reality, solid ground
From most minds hiding
But keen eyes dreams are finding.

In daylight and night darkness
Surprises good and bad are sliding
Into, out of, view - reminding

What to do, to say, to dream?
Chances, prospects are you seeing?
Hopes and dreams come into being.
